Before my marriage 100 percent of the almirah space in my bedroom was mine.
After the marriage, 80 percent was hers and I was left with 20 percent till I got a new almirah. After a few years, even this second almirah was encroached upon. I now keep a good portion of my things in a suitcase on the loft on top of the almirah. It is inconvenient of course but safe from further encroachment. Fortunately she is 4″ shorter and the loft height is just beyond easy reach for her.
In the bathroom I had just three things, a shaving razor/brush, a toothpaste tube/ toothbrush and a comb.
Now I still have these things but they sometimes get lost among another 100 things like bindi packs, shampoo sachets, creams, lotions, talcum powder, mehndi, sprays, hair brushes, hair clips, loofa, a variety of shampoos, nail clippers, scissors, tweezers, perfumes, oils, deodorants, etc etc.
Before marriage, a small barber’s mirror (the size of an iPad) was enough. Now there is a huge mirror. In the bedroom also there is a full length mirror.
Earlier a small lizard on the ceiling, or a small cockroach under the almirah or bed never disturbed me. Now unless it is driven out of the bedroom by me, neither can she sleep nor can I.
Marriage is a life changer!
